If theres a more idyllic place to leave the grid, and have the ocean breeze wash over you, and let the stress of a tumultuous year seep out of your soul, I do not learn about it. Time for Annie and I to Cornwall, down in the south of the UK. We stayed with a terrific pal and fellow professional photographer, Marea Downey, in a small fishing town called Cadgwith, nestled among the rocks and headlands of the shoreline, an area referred to as the western methods to the English Channel.

Marea, had of a terrific eye, has actually made lots of gorgeous images of a land she plainly loves. It was through the friendships and respect she has amongst the fishermen that I was permitted to go out on a journey, in the pre-dawn chill.

This was an unusual opportunity indeed, as those boats are little, and there is the effort of fishing and making a living to be done. Barely time to bring along and educate a day tripper or landlubber such as myself (call me either, both are proper). There is very little space at all on a boat like the Silver Queen to merely not remain in the method, but I did my finest.
The skipper of the ship, John Trewin, a veteran angler, and wise in the ways of the waters, regularly brings along one of his children to team the boat. On my vacation, it was Jaimie, young in years, but at the exact same time a educated and extremely confident mate.
It is magnificently out of the method. We owe a great financial obligation to Marea for presenting us to the marvels of Cadgwith, with its strong fleet of fishing boats, and an astoundingly gregarious and friendly bar referred to as Cadgwith Cove Inn, where the anglers collect on Friday nights for a weekly songfest of deservedly great prominence.
