Fujifilm patents 28mm, 32mm and 35mm f/1.0 lenses – Are they expanding their f/1.0 lineup?

Fujifilm has patented three new lenses, the Fujinon XF 28mm f/1.0, Fujinon XF 32mm f/1.0 and Fujinon FX 35mm f/1.0. Thats 3 lenses with big large apertures for ultra-low-light shooting and a shallow depth of field that a lot of Fuji shooters would like to get installed to their cameras. The patent explains that there has actually been a need over the last few years for lenses with larger apertures in addition to the concerns with creating them.

You can take a look at the total patent on your own here.

. Example 2 (28mm F1.0).

It would be good to be incorrect and have Fuji broaden its f/1.0 lineup, however I cant see it taking place.

Fuji does currently have the Fuji XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR lens, so its not entirely out of the world of possibility that theyre planning to broaden their f/1.0 lineup and among these might also come to fruition. But I believe its more most likely that these may merely have actually been signed up for the sake of owning the intellectual home and theyre most likely not preparing to launch any of them.

Example 1 (35mm F1.0).

I believe Fuji had to launch at least one lens this wide, however– which they did with the 50mm– to state “Hey, we can do this, too!”. After lenses like the Nikon Nikkor Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct hit the market, not to discuss Sonys claims that they might make f/0.63 lenses for Sony E install (if they desired to), they desired to reveal they can keep up.

. Example 3 (32mm F1.0).

Fujis XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR was released in September 2020, priced at $1,499, and its remained alone ever since as the only f/1.0 lens in the Fuji lineup. With as couple of reviews as the lens has at merchants online, I cant picture its been all that popular in comparison to what else is out there that better fits the budget plans of the majority of photographers. Despite the claims in the patent, I dont think the demands truly there at all in the grand scheme of things.
