I have two Drobos– one at home and one at work, and I keep them synced, and I have not had any problems at all. I was boasting last week about how the one at home signaled me that one of my drives was getting full and that I d need to change it soon.
” Dear Mr. Kelby: Im writing to ask for your advice concerning Drobo. For nearly 2 years now Ive been not able to make contact with anyone from Drobo in either e-mail or by phone. Im dead in the water as far as access to my files and not getting any more youthful.
I wrote back to him to let him know I had not heard anything in the news about Drobo (though they were purchased by another business a few years back), however I d start doing some research on it, and I d contact them myself and see if I might get him some aid.
Their sites on, however nobodys home.
Hes ideal– every single product on their site shows “sold out” and it appears its been that way because at least August of 2020, and I do not know why theyve been “sold out,” for 18 or two months (chip scarcity, supply chain issues, etc), and theres nothing on their website to explain why everythings out of stock. No banner up leading, or notice on the pages, and so on, however I do understand this– companies that make their living selling products however dont have any for 18-months and dont offer a reason do not normally have an especially brilliant future.
So, I called them. I pushed the appropriate number to be linked to Sales to ask when new systems would be offered and how to get service. It sent me to voicemail where it stated, “No one is here to take your call. Leave a message.”.
I believed I d attempt again another day, and I got the very same “No one is here to take your call. Leave a message.” I left a message this time as the editor of Photoshop User magazine, calling to ask the companys status for a post I would be writing in the publication about Drobo. Its been four days. No callback. No reaction whatsoever.
Nobody exists to take our calls. Yikes.
I checked their social media accounts. Theres only one Tweet on their account in the past 6 months, stating that they havent found any compatibility concerns with Mac OS Monterey, and prior to that, the last tweets were from August. Pretty much the same throughout all their social. All not terrific signs. And obviously, the gentlemen who sent me the original e-mail hasnt gotten any aid from them, or from my efforts, and thats not awesome.
In other words, Im worried enough that Im now trying to find a various picture storage option.
Im a bit flipped out that if my Drobo decreases, Im in the same situation that man remains in. Yes, I have a backup (and a cloud backup) and a Synology NAS at work, too, however I will not sleep well if my stuff isnt 100% solid on my desktop. The search is on, and Ill let you men understand how it goes (and Im open to your concepts if youve got a solid, fast, expandable desktop option).
Of course, there is always the opportunity that everything is OK at Drobo, and theyll have a bunch of systems in stock soon, and begin contacting their customers who have major problems and get them dealt with in a timely style. If I were a betting guy …
Well, not the best finest to send you into the weekend, so dont focus on that, but however rather on the fact truth after our company KelbyOne holiday vacation today, Im on vacation getaway next week, so whoo hoo !!! Well, thats what Ill be focusing on this weekend. That and playing Call of Duty Warzone, ranking up some of my weapons in Vanguard, spending time recording music, hanging out with my fantastic household, and consuming yummy vacation food because, as we know, vacation food does not include calories, carbohydrates, fat, or anything bad.
Delighted Holidays, everybody!
