Kids’ Media Use Accelerated Rapidly During the Pandemic

A new report from Common Sense Media, “The Common Sense Census: Media Use by Tweens and Teens, 2021” exposes how the past two years have affected kids media use. While numerous pre-pandemic patterns continued, we saw acceleration throughout the board, as well as some shifts in the middle of the emergence of brand-new platforms and behavioral patterns.

– The variety of tweens utilizing social media– before theyre technically old adequate to do so– is climbing. Social media usage by tweens climbed up throughout the pandemic, with the percentage of 8- to 12-year-olds reporting that they had actually ever utilized some form of social networks leaping to 38% in 2021, compared with 31% in 2019.
